The whole world is ageing including Bangladesh, (present life expectancy is 70.3 years) it is high time we took steps to keep our 1 crore and 30 lac ageing population better. An inter-generational linkage is necessary to meet the challenge of an ageing population. We also need to sensitize the community on AGEING and its challenges.
In this notion the Youth Summit on Ageing 2017 has been arranged. The summit consisted of Inauguration Session, Inter-generational panel discussion and Training on Experiencing the Silver Age. The program was jointly organized by Ageing Support Forum & Social Business Students Forum (SBSF), Daffodil International University in Collaboration with National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Sir Willium Beveridge Foundation, Resource Interrogation Centre (RIC).
Mr. Kazi Reazul Haque, Honorable Chairman, NHRC, joined the program as the chief guest where Mr. Abul Haseeb Khan, Director, RIC and Prof. Dr. ASM Atiqur Rahman, Secretary General, Bangladesh Association for the Aged and Institute of Geriatric Medicine (BAAIGM) joined as the Special Guests. Masud Ibn Rahman, Associate Professor, Daffodil International University & General Secretary, Ageing Support Forum have delivered the Keynote Speech.
The Program started with a welcome speech by Kazi Mesbah Ur Rahman, BBA Student, DIU & Joint Secretary, Ageing Support Forum.
The Program was presided over by Mr. Mr. Md Hasan Ali, President, Ageing Support Forum.Md. Kaium Thakur, Secretary General, Bangladesh Abosorprapto Sorkari Kormochari Kollyan Somity, Professor Rafiqul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business & Economics, DIU, Dr. Umme Salema Begum, Principal, Udayan Higher Secondary School also joined the program as the guests.
Participants from 25 institutions including 15 universities participated this day long program. The program has been arranged in order to achieve hands on experience on the life struggles of senior citizens and develop proper mindset towards them by the young generation.
